HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW: BRYANT GUMBEL MOVES TO CBS

Former "Today" show host Bryant Gumbel is expected to
join CBS today after "nearly 25 years at NBC," according to
Richard Huff of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. Gumbel reportedly will
host a primetime news magazine and handle four celebrity
interview specials a year. The "multi-faceted package" is
estimated at $5M a year. Huff notes the package "is also
believed to have a sports component" which could include
working golf telecasts (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 3/13). USA TODAY's
Peter Johnson reports part of the deal has Gumbel "owning
and developing syndicated programming with CBS' syndication
arm, Eyemark" (USA TODAY, 3/13). The N.Y. POST's Josef
Adalian estimates the deal at $7M per year (N.Y. POST,
3/13). In L.A., Jane Hall writes that Gumbel was in talks
with ABC, but the network "dropped out of the negotiations
Wednesday," and Gumbel "was also concerned about the change
in management" at ABC News last week in regards to Roone
Arledge and David Westin (L.A. TIMES, 3/13).
