"PURE" GENIUS? TAYLOR MADE GOLF LAUNCHES CUSTOM MAGAZINE

          Pure, a new golfing magazine issued by Taylor Made Golf
     Inc., is examined by Denise Gellene of the L.A. TIMES.  The
     magazine, "loaded" with features on Taylor Made endorsers
     and equipment, is distributed free to Taylor Made customers. 
     Ken Cohen of N.Y.-based Run Publishing, the company that
     produces Pure for Taylor Made: "It is a print version of an
     infomercial. ... There are two sides to every story, but you
     are not going to get them here."  Taylor Made "believes the
     magazine is gaining acceptance," and Pure is beginning to
     attract outside advertisers "interested in Taylor Made's
     high-income customers."  The first issue had ads from Levi
     Strauss & Co. and Northwest Airlines.  The second issue, due
     out in April, will contain an ad for Barron's, the Dow Jones
     & Co. financial publication (L.A. TIMES, 2/27).
