THE EAGLES HAVE LANDED: ON LOCAL TV WB STATION IN NEW DEAL

The Eagles and Philadelphia-based WB17 have signed a
three-year local broadcast deal. WB17 will be the flagship
station of the newly-formed Eagles TV Network (ETN). WB17
is also the sports home of the Phillies and Flyers. The ETN
will air Eagles pre-season games, the Ray Rhodes Show, an
Eagles Wrap-Up Show and the Eagles Green and White Scrimmage
from Eagles training camp (Eagles). Eagles VP/Sales &
Marketing Len Komoroski, on the three-year deal: "We have
the opportunity now to really expand the programming base.
Fans are looking for ways to get closer to the team and find
out more about the team." According to sources of Mike
Bruton of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, local Philadelphia
channels WTXF and KYW were also bidding for the package, but
"speculation is" that WB17 got the deal because "it was
willing to pursue something other than a standard rights
agreement," and because the station "is committed to
emphasizing local sports." Terms were not disclosed
     (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 2/13).
