ONLINE NEWS & NOTES: SUPER BOWL SITES BRING RECORD HITS

          AOL agreed yesterday to give refunds or credits to
     nearly all of its 8 million subscribers as compensation for
     problems in connecting to the service.  In Washington,
     Hilzenrath & Ordonez notes some analysts predict only a
     small percentage of subscribers will take the time to
     request the refunds or credits (WASHINGTON POST, 1/30).
          FINAL PORTION OF JAMBALAYA:  The NFL and AudioNet
     attracted the largest audience ever on the World Wide Web
     with audio coverage of Super Bowl XXXI.  Over 500,000 fans
     listened to coverage through AudioNet's web site (http://www
     .AudioNet.com) or the Super Bowl site (http://www.super
     bowl.com) (AudioNet)....From Friday-Monday's Super Bowl
     weekend, ESPNET SportsZone recorded 62 million hits and 1.53
     million visits, compared to 15 million hits and 565,000
     visits in '96 for the Super Bowl weekend (THE DAILY).
     ....DigiKnow, of Cleveland-based Marcus Advertising, has
     developed the Red Wings site at http://www.detroit
     redwings.com (CRAIN'S CLEVELAND BUSINESS, 1/20 issue).
