MEDIA NOTES

          Buoyed by its Super Bowl broadcast, Fox was the top
     rated TV network for the week of January 20-26.  It was only
     the second time Fox has won a primetime week, the first was
     during its coverage of the World Series in October
     (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 1/29)....Tigers broadcaster George Kell
     will not return for the '97 season (Tigers)....The Nets'
     Jayson Williams will host "Jayson's Boardroom," a live,
     online, radio talk show on Thursday at 5:00pm ET.  The half-
     hour show can be accessed through NBA.com (N.Y. POST,
     1/29)....SportsTicker will launch a new 9600 baud network
     whereby subscribers will be able to receive additional
     sports news and information (SportsTicker)....TCI
     spokesperson Bob Thomson, on programming decisions facing
     cable operators: "Sports programming is of immense concern
     to us.  The cost structures are literally out of control,
     and we have suspicions that they are expecting cable
     customers to pay far more than cable customers are willing
     to pay for sports programming services" (B&C, 1/27 issue).
