FRANCHISE NOTES

Colts VP Jim Irsay, on the team's attempt to redo its RCA
Dome lease: "I'm certainly not going to ask for something that's
not realistic. I'm not looking to be the top grosser in revenue.
... We're not looking for charity" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS,
11/10)....Jeff Gordon of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, on Rams
image in the city: "The Rams owned the town for a year, but
they've given up the deed. ... Missourians are not rubes. They
will not blindly support their pro football team just because,
well, it's a pro football team. They will not follow the Rams
like so many sheep. They are just as capable of forgetting about
the NFL as Orange Countians" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH,
11/10)....In Boston, Peter May writes the Celtics "thought long
and hard" about applying for a WNBA team, but decided not to
pursue it because they "wanted to focus their energy on the men's
team." May notes NBA sources say the league was "disinclined to
give Boston a franchise anyway because it is, shall we say, less
than thrilled with the way things are going with the franchise"
(BOSTON GLOBE, 11/10)....Will McDonough notes Patriots Owner Bob
Kraft refused the league's request to move Sunday's game against
the Broncos to a 4:00pm ET start. Kraft "is opposed" to late
games at Foxboro under daylight savings since the cold weather
makes it "uncomfortable" at the stadium (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/9).
