NBA CHALLENGE '96 HIGHLIGHTED BY SPONSOR ACTIVITIES

     NBA Challenge '96 tips off in Mexico City on October 26-27
with the Cavaliers-Suns and Mavericks-Jazz.  Surrounding the
weekend will be promo activities by NBA Challenge '96 sponsors
AT&T, Sprite, Bancomer, Wonder Bread, Corona, Nike, Spalding and
Deportes Marti.  Among the activities: Sprite has produced more
than 1 million commemorative NBA Challenge '96 team-identified
cans and is offering promos to win event tickets.  Sprite is also
the presenting sponsor of the NBA Jam Session; Wonder Bread
offered a point of sale promo with Spalding where 5,000 NBA
Challenge mini-backboards and 40,000 mini-basketballs sold-out in
the first three days of the promo.  Wonder Bread has 18
billboards placed throughout Mexico City; McDonald's NBA 2ball
youth skills program will culminate on Sunday at the NBA Jam
Session; Nike de Mexico will introduce its new line of authentic
NBA apparel with fashion shows at the NBA Jam Session.  Nike and
the NBA also have a court dedication; CBS/Fox video and local
distributor Videovisa will show its new line of NBA videos at the
NBA Jam Session; Bancomer staged an NBA Challenge '96 ticket
promo; Deportes Marti, the NBA's official retail outlet for NBA
Challenge '96 conducted in store promos for event merchandise;
Upper Deck will launch a new line of Spanish language NBA cards;
and TV Azteca will broadcast the games (NBA).
