TERRAPIN'S STATION: MARYLAND-DUKE LIVE OVER INTERNET

The Duke-Maryland football game on Raleigh's WRAL-TV on
Saturday will be carried over the Internet with full audio and
video as well as broadcast, according to David Boraks of the
CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. The live college football display will be
handled by Interpath Marketing Group. Few computer users will
have fast enough connections to receive video at "anywhere near
the speed of a TV set. So most who watch Saturday's game on-line
will have clear audio, but see only jerky images." WRAL will
limit viewers to 200. The game can be accessed at
http://www.wral-tv.com/sports or www.vdo.net (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER,
10/24). Technology called VDOLive, of CA-based VDOnet Corp.,
will be used, and the deal was made between VDOnet and Jefferson-
Pilot, who own the rights to the broadcast (WASHINGTON TIMES,
10/24).
