MILLER'S CROSSING? THREE TEAM VYING FOR BIG JON'S VOICE

The Orioles are "in danger" of losing one of their "most
valued employees," broadcaster Jon Miller, according to Mark
Maske of the WASHINGTON POST. Miller, whose contract with the
team has expired, is the "object of a bidding war that apparently
includes at least" three other MLB teams, the Giants, Yankees and
Padres. Miller: "I can't comment on any of this. My hope is
that I'll stay with the Orioles." The Giants sent team reps to
meet with Miller and his agent, Ron Shapiro. Miller grew up in
the Bay Area and began his broadcasting career with the A's in
'74. Orioles Exec Dir/Marketing & Broadcasting Michael Lehr:
"We've heard rumors about other teams being interested, but we
continue to talk" (WASHINGTON POST, 10/24).
