FRANCHISE NOTES

As of Thursday afternoon, the Oilers had sold about 17,000
tickets for their game Sunday (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/13)....Now
that the Bucs stadium issue has been resolved, the TAMPA TRIBUNE
reports attention may now return to the team's uniform redesign.
Bucs coach Tony Dungy, on his ideas for new duds: "That's not
really my area of expertise. As long as Bryan and Joel [Glazer]

TRIBUNE, 9/13).....The Twins sale of $225,000 in merchandise and
programs from the "Kirby Puckett Night" celebration exceeded the
sales during individual World Series games in '87 and '91
(Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 9/13)....Oklahoma City Mayor and
Oklahoma Sports Commission Chair Ronald Norick, on the city's
chances of landing an NHL expansion franchise: "I think they're
better than 50-50, but I've always been an optimist" (THE DAILY
OKLAHOMAN, 9/12)....MLS Commissioner Doug Logan, on the San Jose
Clash's Spartan Stadium deal and the possibility of the club
moving to San Francisco if Spartan Stadium cannot be renovated:
"We love it there. We'd like to make it forever. But we think we
have a fundamental responsibility to talk to everybody in this
period of time while we find what the future holds" (SAN JOSE
MERCURY NEWS, 9/12)....More than 2,400 fans have paid $200 each
just to be included on the Avalanche's waiting list for season
