N.L. LOCKOUT: SCHOTT BANNED FROM RIVERFRONT BY LEN COLEMAN

     Reds Owner Marge Schott was banned from Riverfront Stadium
by NL President Leonard Coleman for interfering with operations
of the club, including trying to keep acting CEO John Allen from
attending the All-Star Game in Philadelphia last week. This
comes one week after Schott wrote a memo to team employees
saying, "Contrary to what you may have been led to believe, I do
not intend to disappear." Schott had agreed to step aside from
day-to-day operations of the club on June 12 in an agreement that
put Allen in charge of the team for 60 days. Coleman said Schott
"has to be in compliance with the agreement she signed," also
noting:   The process for choosing a CEO has not moved forward;
she has not "written a suitable memo to staffers to inform them
who is in charge"; and she has retained Chicago lawyer Joseph
Duffy, who is "pushing Schott to take a tougher stand against
baseball" (Hal Bodley, USA TODAY, 7/18). Schott is prohibited
from attending Reds' home games and visiting her offices at
Riverfront Stadium ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 7/17).
