NFL WINS THE COIN TOSS IN NEW LEGAL BATTLES WITH RAIDERS

The NFL has persuaded a Santa Clara County judge to "toss
out most of a lawsuit" filed by the Raiders in February,
according to Barry Witt of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS. In a
ruling, Superior Court Judge John Herlihy accepted the NFL's
arguments that all the issues in dispute concerning the Raiders'
move last year to Oakland should be decided in a Federal court in
L.A., where the NFL filed suit against the Raiders last year.
The league has accused the Raiders and Owner Al Davis of "forum-
hopping" by filing in county court his claims the league had
"pushed" the Raiders out L.A. to Oakland and later interfered
with the team's ability to sell season tickets in Oakland. The
Raiders say they had been "damaged to a tune" of $200M by the
move. The NFL's suit alleges the Raiders have "cheated" the
league out of a share of PSL revenues (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS,
7/17).
