MSG'S INCREDIBLE SHRINKING SECURITY FORCE?

Union sources at Madison Square Garden claim there were only
about 50 security personnel and 16 ushers on hand for the Bowe-
Golota fight last week, as opposed to the 70 officers and 50
ushers MSG officials maintained were there following the post-
fight riot. N.Y. POST sources also allege that a union
representative who warned of inadequate security was "brushed
aside" by MSG execs. MSG spokesperson John Cirillo called the
charges "outrageous" and "disgraceful." Cirillo: "I will tell
you for a fact there were exactly 119 security and ushers in the
building -- 76 security and 43 ushers." One source said the
night began with 32 ushers, but half were sent home to avoid
overtime, leaving 16 to handle 10,000 fans (N.Y. POST, 7/16).
