AND 1 SIGNS STEPHON MARBURY WITH EYES ON NEW SHOE LINE

AND 1 has signed Stephon Marbury to a multi-year endorsement
deal to introduce their new line of basketball shoes. The
agreement will launch AND 1 into the basketball footwear
business. The two styles -- the "Stephon Marbury" and "Da Bomb"
-- feature a lateral stability technology that prevents "roll-
over" through special outsole and upper construction. Marbury's
signature shoe will retail for $79.99, and "Da Bomb" will retail
for $69.99. AND 1 will support the footwear introduction with a
new print and TV ad campaign to debut during the NBA All-Star
Game next February. Both styles will be available on the East
Coast in November, and nationwide in February. AND 1 was founded
by three partners in '93, two of whom were age 25 and a third age
21. Company revenues have risen to an estimated $16M in '96.
AND 1 now has six partners with an average age of 28 who share
the sales, marketing, distribution, design and manufacturing
responsibilities (AND 1).
CLARIFICATION: AND 1 will not debut shoes at the NSGA World
Sports Expo, as reported by SPORTING GOODS BUSINESS and picked up
in last Thursday's issue of THE DAILY.
