STADIUM NOTES

     In an interview with the PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, Eagles
Owner Jeffrey Lurie indicated he will not "accept a renovated
Vet" and "hinted that he may have no other choice" but to move if
the Eagles don't get a new stadium.  Lurie:  "We can't survive
without [a new stadium.]  And we know what our alternatives are"
(PHILLY DAILY NEWS, 6/21)....The NHL Panthers have chosen Kansas
City-based Ellerbe Becket to build the team's new $172M arena
(K.C. STAR, 6/21)....A bill designed to create a joint authority
to attract an MLB team to Sacramento and to produce a baseball
stadium proposal was passed (S.F. EXAMINER, 6/20)....The threat
of two hockey teams playing in the San Antonio Coliseum was
alleviated when Houston businessman Greg Toole "shelved plans" to
buy the IHL Peoria Rivermen and move them to San Antonio.  The
facility is home to the CHL Iguanas (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS,
6/21)....The Advanta Championship women's tennis tournament is
expected to held this year in Villanova University's du Pont
Pavilion (PHILA. DAILY NEWS, 6/21).
