SPONSORSHIP NEWS: NUVEEN LAYS OUT CHAMPIONS PLANS

     Officials from Nuveen and the Champions Tour, including co-
founders Ray Benton and Jimmy Connors, discussed the state of the
tour in a teleconference yesterday.  John Lotka, VP/Sponsorship
at Nuveen, said their total investment in the tour will likely
hit an excess of $2M a year over the next three years.  Nuveen
will also get three to five 30-second spots on Prime telecasts,
with more slated for the Nuveen Masters year-end event.  Yannick
Noah will make his tour debut next month in the Columbus, OH,
event.  Connors: "We want to grab some of the people back to
tennis who might have left, or gone to golf" (THE DAILY).
