CART-IRL FEUD SPILLS OVER SOUTH OF THE BORDER

Indy car driver Emerson Fittipaldi was in court in Miami
yesterday concerning TV rights for the Indianapolis 500 in his
native Brazil. According to the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH,
Fittipaldi, who has held the Indy 500 TV deal in Brazil for
"several years," is suing officials of the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway over cancellation of the agreement. Fittipaldi is
"firmly aligned" with CART and will drive in the rival U.S. 500
on May 26. Gil de Feran, another Brazilian driver, said the
CART-IRL dispute "is not as big of a deal in Brazil as it is
here," and that viewers there will be able to find the drivers
they want to see (John Sonderegger, ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH,
5/13).
