WIEDEN & KENNEDY NAMED ADWEEK "AGENCY OF THE YEAR"

Portland, OR-based Wieden & Kennedy was named ADWEEK's
Agency of the Year. Kathy Tyrer writes the agency is leading the
accounts of three of the world's most powerful brands: Nike,
Microsoft and Coca-Cola, and through those three accounts, '95
brought "tremendous physical growth and spiritual maturation" to
the ad firm. The agency's billings grew from $280M to $415M in
'95 and its staff "swelled" to 316 employees. The agency won
Nike's $87M domestic broadcast buying account and staged "the
largest new product launch in recent history" with Windows '95.
Tyrer notes they produced some of the year's "most heralded
creative work" for ESPN and continued to produce "innovative and
much-admired" work for Nike (ADWEEK, 4/15 issue).
