MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

     Callaway Golf reported net sales of $135.1M for the first
quarter ended March 31, an increase of 14% over net sales of
$119M reported in the first quarter of '95.  Net income was 15%
to $19.5M, from $16.9M in the same quarter of '95 (Callaway
Golf)....Lesnik PR, Kemper Sports Marketing and Kemper Lesnik
Hospitality have combined with the Kemper Lesnik Organization's
advertising and investor relations units to form Kemper Lesnik
Communications.  Sports clients include the Maui Invitational
NCAA College Basketball Tournament, the PGA Tour's Kemper Open
and the Senior PGA Tour's Ameritech Senior Open (Kemper
Lesnik)...."Moneyline" Planet Hollywood's entry on Wall Street,
as its IPO was listed late Thursday at $18 a share (CNN, 4/18).
...Milton Bradley's Electronic Hot Shot Basketball game is a new
regional title sponsor of the kids division of Hoop-It-Up, the
grassroots three-on-three basketball tournament co-owned by
Streetball Partners Int'l and NBC Sports (INSIDE MEDIA, 4/17
issue)....Gillette stock rose 2 7/8 to 52 yesterday.  First
quarter earnings were up and the company is boosting its
quarterly dividend by 20% from 15 to 18 cents per share ("NBR,"
PBS, 4/18)....UPS is sponsoring the speed gun at the ATP Tour's
AT&T Challenge in Atlanta (AT&T Challenge).... This weekend's
Ultimate In-Line Challenge at Universal Studios and alternative
sports are profiled in the ORLANDO SENTINEL.  The emergence of
alternative sports is attracting sponsors such as Casio.  Paul
Slagle, ESPN Dir of Integrated Sales and Marketing: "If you
wanted to sell Cadillacs, you sponsored golf.  But golf doesn't
get you Generation X" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 4/19)....The NHL and
NHLPA will bring the first-ever hockey-themed exhibit to the
National Sports Collectors Show in June in Anaheim.  The exhibit
makes hockey a central theme of the '96 show (NHL).
