CARTER TIRED OF WAITING ON STARS DEAL; SEEKS NEW ARENA TALKS

     Mavs Owner Donald Carter wants to start arena talks with the
City of Dallas by December 1, even if Stars Owner Norman Green
hasn't completed sale of his team.  Carter "still favors" the
Stars joining arena talks, but uncertainty over ownership has
halted all activity on the building that both teams say they
need."  The Mavericks and Stars have been looking to replace
Reunion Arena for more than a year.  Factors holding up the sale
of the Stars to local businessman John Spano and a group of South
African investors include settling the team's debts, deciding on
Green's future role, and the contract of Stars President Jim
Lites.  According to sources, the Spano group will buy "nearly
all of the Stars" for about $85M with Green keeping a small
