PLAYERS AND UNION WATCHING DISPUTE BETWEEN RAIDERS AND NFL

NFLPA Asst Exec Dir Doug Allen said they are watching the
dispute between the Raiders and the NFL over the distribution of
PSL revenue "with great interest," according to the SAN JOSE
MERCURY NEWS. Allen: "I think the NFL and the players
association have a similar view of how this money should be
treated. I don't think; I know." The union takes the league's
side because only shared ticket revenue is used in calculating
the salary cap. Raiders attorney Joseph Alioto says the owners
knew Davis wasn't going to share the money when they approved the
move: "Al made it clear he was not going to pay any fee for
moving to Oakland, no matter what rubric or name it's put under.
They accepted that commitment from him, and now they've
repudiated that comment" (Barry Witt, SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS,
9/9).
