     Interviews have been scheduled for the four finalists for
the Devils Rays GM job:  Astros Scouting Dir DAN O'BRIEN, Braves
Asst GM CHUCK LAMAR, Cubs Scouting Dir AL GOLDIS, and Marlins
Asst GM FRANK WREN.  Word is also that RAY NAIMOLI will be named
the team's CFO (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 6/19)....GREG NORMAN and
CBS golf analyst BEN WRIGHT faced off concerning comments Wright
made at the Kemper Open regarding Norman as "self-destructive."
Norman to Wright:  "I've been defending you a lot recently
because of the comments you made about the women.  No more.  I'm
done defending you" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 6/17)....Redskins Owner
JACK KENT COOKE has pulled the L.A. Daily News off the market
after trying to sell the paper for 13 months.  Cooke claims the
paper's "improved performance" contributed to the decision
(WASHINGTON TIMES, 6/17)....Nike Chair PHIL KNIGHT had a "swoosh"
tatooed on his left ankle (Portland OREGONIAN, 6/17).
