Sports World Captivated On Social Media By Simpson Parole Hearing

O.J. Simpson was granted parole this afternoon in Carson City, Nev., and is expected to be released in October. Simpson's hearing captivated the sports world on social media. The Wall Street Journal's Joe Flint: "NBC Sports Net should do a split screen of Tour de France coverage and OJ parole hearing." The N.Y. Daily News' Frank Isola: "Major League Baseball is trying to come up with ways to speed up this parole hearing." College football reporter Brett McMurphy: "If NCAA was ruling on today’s O.J. Simpson parole hearing, we’d be waiting another 3 years for a ruling." SB Nation golf writer Trevor Reaske wondered which "has more viewers right now: Open or OJ parole hearing?"

ESPN's Julie Stewart-Binks: "What are the Vegas odds on when OJ's offered an NFL analyst job." New York magazine's Yashar Ali noted if paroled, Simpson "will continue to enjoy a healthy NFL and Screen Actor's Guild pension..for life. That $ is protected from judgements." NBA writer Keith Smith: "So The Jump just gets bumped today? Because ESPN and ESPN2 both had to cover OJ parole? Ok then. Ugh."
