Pittsburgh To Pay For Heinz Field Paint Amid Rift Over Bigger Expenses

Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Sports & Exhibition Authority board members today "approved $276,860 in reimbursements" to the Steelers "for structural steel painting and related inspection services" at Heinz Field. This comes even as the SEA and the Steelers remain "at odds over who will pay" for a $25M expansion of the Great Hall, a new main scoreboard in the south end zone and a new Wi-Fi system. The painting, which "won the board's unanimous approval," represents the "last phase of a four-phase project to repaint the stadium's structural steel." The reimbursement is coming from a $3.3M capital reserve account "funded by $4 in ticket surcharges" (POST-GAZETTE.com, 3/9).
