Islanders Announce WFAN-AM/FM As New Radio Broadcast Partner

The Islanders today named WFAN a broadcast partner. The radio outlet will broadcast 30 regular-season games, simulcasting them on both its AM and FM signals starting with the Oct. 16 home opener. Also joining the team's radio network is WNYM-AM, which will carry 52 regular-season games starting with the Oct. 13 season opener. The two stations will alternate airing Stanley Cup Playoff games. WRHU-FM and WRCN-FM also will continue to simulcast games (Islanders).

WFAN's Craig Carton said "part of the deal" is that he and Boomer Esiason will broadcast one game this season on the station. Esiason, a noted Rangers fan, said, "I will do my best to give you what you expected as a fan about your team because it is about your team. It's not about me." Carton said he has been "immersing myself in the hockey terminology because I have a responsibility to the Islanders and to The FAN" ("Boomer & Carton," WFAN-AM, 10/5).
