Mets' Single-A Affiliate To Be Called Columbia Fireflies

The Mets' Single-A South Atlantic League affiliate set to move from Savannah, Ga., to Columbia, S.C., today unveiled its new name as the Columbia Fireflies. The team introduced its primary wordmark, primary and secondary cap logos, tertiary logo and uniform wordmarks, designed by Sky Design of Atlanta (Fireflies). The team's colors "draw inspiration from the local area," as the midnight blue "represents the South Carolina sky, the neon-green-yellow represents the fireflies glow and the silver represents the wings of a firefly." On both of the Fireflies' on-field hats, "the white around the logos will glow in the dark" (THESTATE.com, 8/4).
