DeKalb County Approves $30M Soccer Facility For Atlanta United FC

DeKalb County commissioners today voted 4-3 “in favor of a deal to lure” MLS expansion club Atlanta United FC’s $30M training facility in “a vote that split along racial and geographic lines.” No time was made available for “public comments about the soccer complex and the county’s commitment” to invest up to $12M in the project. The three white commissioners on the board “complained that they had not had enough time to review the deal.” The four black commissioners all “voted in favor of the deal” (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/4).
