Fox Pulls In $40M In Ad Revenue From Women's World Cup

Fox Networks Group President of Ad Sales Toby Byrne said that the net generated $40M in ad revenue from the FIFA Women's World Cup. Fox "initially estimated it would pull in" about $17M, but the "U.S. team's performance in competitive matches fueled interest among advertisers with each victory." The '11 event in Germany drew $6M in ad revenue for ESPN, according to Kantar Media. But "to be fair, the time zone for this year’s event was more conducive for U.S. viewers" (WSJ.com, 7/9).
