McAdam: Verizon Will Work With NFL On Domestic Violence Program

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam today said that questions about the NFL's "handling of domestic violence ignore the 'culture of denial' about the issue." McAdam on his LinkedIn account reiterated that the league sponsor is committed to "working with the NFL on a long-term program to address domestic violence." He wrote, "Because of our long-standing commitment to this issue, we believe we can be far more effective in preventing domestic violence by remaining in the arena with our partners at the NFL, rather than backing away from the controversy" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 9/18).

Meanwhile, UltraViolet, an advocacy group opposing domestic violence, will fly a "Goodell Must Go" banner over the Georgia Dome tonight for the Buccaneers-Falcons game. The group also paid to have the message flown at "multiple NFL venues" this past weekend (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 9/18).
