NBC's "Today" Highlights Team USA Apparel For Sochi Games

This morning's episode of NBC's "Today" show featured numerous U.S. Olympic athletes displaying and discussing the USOC's Ralph Lauren-designed official apparel for the '14 Sochi Games. NBC's Natalie Morales noted fact that Team USA's London Games apparel was made in China "sparked a firestorm in the media and an outcry from the highest levels in Congress." Polo Ralph Lauren Exec VP David Lauren said the controversy offered "an opportunity to lead the charge to help bring the apparel industry back to America." Morales: "This time around, Polo decided to source American companies to produce their Sochi Olympic line."

U.S. figure skater Evan Lysacek said, "The apparel has become such a large component of the Olympics. You guys are going to have to start asking the athletes, 'Who are you wearing?' ... I think we're all just as proud to sport the Polo logo as we are the American flag" ("Today," NBC, 10/29).
