Fredericksburg City Council To Hear Residents' Opinions On Ballpark

Residents of Fredericksburg, Va., tonight will have their "first formal opportunity" to tell the City Council their opinions on a "proposal to build a multi-purpose stadium for minor league baseball." Additional public hearings "could follow over the next few months as details of the plan are hashed out." The Single-A South Atlantic League Hagerstown Suns have proposed a 30-year lease for a publicly financed, 5,000-seat ballpark. The city may have to issue as much as $33M in bonds "to finance the project" (Fredericksburg FREE LANCE-STAR, 7/9).
