NHL, NHLPA Agree To Formal Partnership With "You Can Play"

The NHL and NHLPA today announced a formal partnership with the "You Can Play Project" that seeks to fight homophobia in sports. The agreement includes a significant commitment to education and training for teams, players, media and fans, plus the production and broadcast of more PSAs. "You Can Play" will conduct seminars at the NHL's rookie symposium to educate young prospects on LGBT issues. The NHLPA and NHL also will work to integrate the project into their Behavioral Health Program (NHL/NHLPA).

The project, begun by Flyers scout Patrick Burke, has in the past involved a number of NHLers in its PSAs and other initiatives.
