Yankees, Red Sox To Dedicate Opening Day To Newtown Victims

The Yankees and Red Sox today announced that they will "jointly dedicate Opening Day to the victims of the Sandy Hook school shootings." Pregame introductions at Yankee Stadium will feature "honor guards of the Newtown police and fire departments," victims' names will be announced and there will be a moment of silence. Both teams also will wear "a special ribbon on their uniforms for the game" (ESPN.com, 3/20). MLB Commissioner Bud Selig "has asked that all other 28" teams wear the ribbon "during their opening games" (AP, 3/20).
