Last Day At Work For Gatti, Who Helped Make ESPN A Juggernaut

Today was the final day at ESPN for Senior VP/Communications Counsel & Corporate Outreach Rosa Gatti. She retires “after 33 years of helping the company move from the smallest of channels to the biggest brand in sports.” Gatti was the “first woman sports information director at a major university” and “one of the first women executives hired in Bristol” (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 2/25 issue). The official Twitter feeds of Fox SportsNBC Sports PR and several other non-ESPN outlets today posted comments saluting Gatti (THE DAILY).

ESPN’s Bob Ley said, “As a leader and a pioneer in the field of corporate communications and human resources, Rosa's accomplishments stand alone. As a formative figure in the history of this ESPN brand, she holds a unique place. … You should know that all we have accomplished and all that we do accomplish in the future will bear her imprint. Rosa, thanks for sharing the ride. It's been fun” (“Outside The Lines,” ESPN, 2/28).

Gatti was named to this year’s class of SBJ/SBD Champions of Sports Business. Watch a video discussing her career and accomplishments.
