Florida, Louisville Have Trouble Selling Sugar Bowl Ticket Allotments

Florida faces Louisville tonight in the Allstate Sugar Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Superdome and tickets are "still available and reasonably priced." UF sold only 7,000 tickets for the game, less than half of its 17,500 ticket allotment. The school could "face having to eat $1.5 million or more from the shortfall." UL sold more than 14,500 tickets of its allotment (NOLA.com, 1/1).
The official announced attendance for the Florida State-Northern Illinois Discover Orange Bowl was 72,073 at 78,000-seat Sun Life Stadium. But there were “probably no more than 50,000 to 55,000 at the game” (SUNTIMES.com, 1/1). Meanwhile, the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl had its lowest attendance since ’00, while the Hyundai Sun Bowl had its lowest crowd since ’01 (THE DAILY).
