Comcast Sports Group Brings Ad Sales In-House For Four RSNs

Comcast Sports Group today formally announced that NBCUniversal's NBC Owned Television Stations division will handle national advertising sales for several RSNs. The NBCOTS group will sell national advertising for four Comcast-branded RSNs (New England, Mid-Atlantic, Northwest and Philadelphia). This will be phased in across the four markets over the next several months (NBCUniversal).

The sales "previously have been handled by several companies, including Fox Sports-owned Home Team Sports." Joseph Gallagher has been named VP/National Sales for the RSNs. He will be based in N.Y. and is "expected to increase staff." Comcast Sports Group Exec VP & Chief Revenue Officer Ray Warren said, "This is something that I've wanted to do from the beginning. We would have done this sooner, but we had to wait for contracts to end" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/16 issue).
