Sources: Memphis In "Final Stages" Of Talks To Join Big East

Sources said that the Univ. of Memphis and the Big East Conference are in the "final stages of negotiations to make the Tigers an all-sports member of the Big East beginning in 2013." Memphis would join the Big East with fellow Conference USA members Houston, SMU and UCF for the '13-14 school year. Sources said that a formal announcement of Memphis switching conferences "could be made as early as this week." Memphis AD R.C. Johnson declined comment (CBSSPORTS.com, 2/7).
