Despite NFL Overlap, Wisconsin Not Changing Time Of Hoops Game

The Univ. of Wisconsin will not alter the scheduled 5:00pm CT start of its home men's basketball game against Nebraska on Sunday, despite the overlap with the 3:30pm CT Giants-Packers NFL divisional playoff game. UW's Athletic Department said in a statement, "Despite exhaustive efforts from the Wisconsin Athletic Department and the Big Ten Conference, the University of Wisconsin is unable to alter the time." Associate AD Justin Doherty added in the statement: "Changing the time of our game would have affected the travel, timing and schedules of up to half the schools in our conference. ... Logistically it was just not feasible" (FOXSPORTSOHIO.com, 1/10).

Meanwhile, Saturday's Univ. of Northern Colorado-Eastern Washington game "has been moved up one hour (to 4:05pm MT) so it will end in time for fans to watch" the Broncos-Patriots playoff game. Altitude Sports & Entertainment "requested the tipoff time change" (USATODAY.com, 1/12).
