Driving Away: David Higdon Leaving As NASCAR VP After Six-Year Run

NASCAR VP/Integrated Marketing Communications DAVID HIGDON is leaving the sanctioning body after a six-year run. Higdon, who made the announcement yesterday on social media, will work through June 30. Higdon says he has yet to figure out his next move, but he has worked in golf and tennis on top of motorsports, so those are areas he could get back into. Higdon will continue on as BOD Chair of the Univ. of Oregon’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, as well as an Exec Committee member for the Davis Cup and Fed Cup and his work with the World Golf Foundation’s diversity program. His move comes amid a reshuffling of NASCAR’s integrated marketing communications department earlier this year that saw ERIC NYQUIST moved into the position of Senior VP/Communications & Technology Development and Higdon moved to a role where he helped align content on NASCAR.com with key objectives.
