Andretti Sports Marketing, Formula E Decline To Comment On Future Of Miami EPrix Race

Miami ePrix promoters Andretti Sports Marketing declined to comment on reports that the race is not included on the provisional calendar for Formula E’s second season. ASM President John Lopes referred to the electric racing series for questions about the future of the race in South Florida. “They [Formula E] are putting their calendar together for 2015-2016 and that process for any racing series can be challenging and full of many issues impacting the calendar,” he wrote in an e-mail. Formula E also declined to provide information on the race’s future. Last week, Motorsport.com reported the series’ '15-16 schedule, which was submitted to FIA for approval, did not include Miami. Another venue from the inaugural season missing on the provisional schedule is Monaco. New on the schedule are Paris and Mexico City. The disappearance of Miami from the calendar is especially surprising considering the city approved a five-year extension prior to this year’s race in March.
