Ford Rolls Out "Join Ford Nation" Spot Starring Driver Joey Logano

As part of the rollout of its ’15 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup marketing campaign, series manufacturer Ford this afternoon unveiled a movie-style ad with driver Joey Logano that promotes the project. The spot, which was produced in house and shot in early August in Wilkesboro, N.C., is a new effort from Ford, which last year only had a sweepstakes component to its campaign. The spot shows NBC Sports reporter Nate Ryan querying Logano during a press conference on what he would do if he was not a driver, and then shows Logano hallucinate to another world where he’s a Mustang-driving superhero who saves the Sprint Cup – and Miss Sprint Cup – from being stolen. Another spot will be released next week with fellow Team Penske driver Brad Keselowski.

The overarching campaign, entitled Join Ford Nation to align with NASCAR’s Battle of Nations campaign, also includes an online sweepstakes component with the chance to win prizes including a ’15 Mustang GT. Ford Motorsports Marketing Manager Tim Duerr said of the campaign, “We jumped on board with our Join Ford Nation campaign to tie directly into the Battle of the Nation campaign by NASCAR. It was a priority for us to come up with a sweepstakes that would help grow the Ford Nation video content that we didn’t have last year.” He added, “The whole gist is to try to encourage our fans to share and recruit their fans, neighbor and family to join the Ford Nation. The more that join, the more random drawings that we’ll have and exciting things that we’ll give away.”
