Last week the Pelicans hired Swin Cash as VP of basketball operations and team development, and the Cavaliers hired Lindsay Gottlieb from Cal to be an assistant coach, making her the first women’s college head coach to join an NBA staff.

Name Blame

The merger of BB&T and SunTrust has led to the combined banks being rebranded Truist, a name that was heavily lampooned on social media. The Atlanta Braves play at SunTrust Park, and Braves fans and journalists who cover the team were particularly vocal in their criticism, with SB Nation Braves writer Scott Coleman tweeting, “I’m calling the police if they rename the stadium Truist Bank Park.”

We’re Serious This Time

Stan Wilcox, NCAA vice president of regulatory affairs, said that several major men’s college basketball programs will be hit with Level I violations as a result of the ongoing investigation into the sport, saying, “We’re moving forward and you’ll see consequences.” Given the lack of impact the case has generated thus far, most will adopt a wait-and-see approach.
