PGA Tour’s Moorhouse set to retire

MOORHOUSE
The PGA Tour’s changing of the executive guard continues as longtime executive Ed Moorhouse is set to retire effective Dec. 31.

Moorhouse served in many roles throughout his three decades at the tour. He joined the organization in 1985 after working for a Jacksonville law firm that counted the tour as a client.

He started as senior vice president and counsel for PGA Tour Golf Course Properties, then became chief legal officer. In 1994, he was promoted to co-chief operating officer under former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem and worked in a variety of roles including media, real estate and the development of other tour properties such as the Web.com and Champions tours.

Over the past two years, Moorhouse has focused on global business development and international affairs. Since June he has been a senior adviser to Commissioner Jay Monahan, who replaced Finchem on Jan. 1.

Succeeding Moorhouse is Ty Votaw, who last June moved from executive vice president and CMO to executive vice president of global business affairs. Votaw now oversees the tour’s international strategy across all business lines including media, corporate sponsorship, licensing, TPC properties and other revenue streams.

Moorhouse’s departure follows the retirement of longtime tour executive Charlie Zink, who left in October as part of a restructuring under Monahan.

“It is a changing of the guard, but the new guard has been here a while and that is a positive thing,” Moorhouse said.

Moorhouse, 64, will continue to serve as a consultant to the tour through 2018.

“One major accomplishment is getting the tour to the strength of where it is today,” Moorhouse said. “I had a lot of help.”
