ICM Partners to represent retired NASCAR driver Edwards

CM Partners has signed recently retired NASCAR driver Carl Edwards for exclusive representation in marketing, speaking, broadcasting, literary, acting and other endeavors.

Agents Mark Zimmerman, Lou Oppenheim and Matt Sorger will represent Edwards.

It’s the first time Edwards has been represented by a full-service talent agency. He will also continue to work with his longtime manager, Randy Fuller.

Edwards, 38, raced in NASCAR’s top series for 13 years, winning 28 races and finishing second in the points race in 2008 and 2011. He drove for Joe Gibbs Racing before announcing his retirement in January.

Edwards has an array of interests and abilities, so his new agents are not seeking a specific deal or line of work for him, Zimmerman said.

He has appeared in commercials for Aflac, Subway and Vitaminwater. In addition, Edwards has done some acting, including small roles on “24” and “Chicago Fire.” He’s also famous for doing backflips off his car after winning a race.

“We are casting a wide net,” Zimmerman said. Broadcasting is a possibility, as are literary projects.

“He really is kind of a blank slate,” Zimmerman said. “He really said, ‘Let me know what you guys come up with.’”

> HAMBRIC SIGNS GOLFERS: Hambric Sports Management has signed John Oda, a first team All-American from UNLV, and Gunn Yang, the winner of the 2014 U.S. Amateur.

Walker Huddy will represent Oda, and Ricardo Relinque will represent Yang.

Agency founder Rocky Hambric will work with both golfers and their agents.

“John is the kind of guy who is more the ‘can’t miss’ kind of guy,” Hambric said, adding that he was visiting club and apparel manufacturers about deals for Oda last week.

Yang, meanwhile, has not made a lot of headlines since winning the U.S. Amateur. “Gunn has a tremendous pedigree and we really believe in his ability to get back to where he was and better,” Hambric said.

> REP 1 SIGNS KILGORE: Rep 1 Sports has signed San Francisco 49ers center Daniel Kilgore.

Ryan Tollner and Chase Callahan will represent him. He was formerly represented by US Sports.

Rep 1, which also counts 49ers tackle Joe Staley and guard Zane Beadles as clients, now represents three of the five members of the team’s starting offensive line.

> CAA SPORTS SIGNS BARRETT: CAA Sports has signed skateboarder Jordyn Barratt, who is pointed toward the 2020 Toyko Summer Games, where the sport of park skateboarding will make its Olympics debut.

Lowell Taub and Lis Moss will represent Barratt. She was not previously represented.

Barratt won a silver medal in skateboard park in this year’s X Games and a bronze in 2016. She also has competed in professional surfing events.

> WME SIGNS CZARNIAK: WME has signed ESPN broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak.

Sharon Chang and partner Josh Pyatt are representing her. She was formerly represented by Creative Artists Agency.
