‘Classic’ will pit ex-jocks, chefs in cooking, golf

NCAA broadcast partners CBS and Turner Sports are combining to create a new one-hour special, “The Chef’s Classic,” that will run on CBS at 5 p.m. on the Sunday of Final Four weekend.

The first-of-its-kind competition will pit a team of celebrity chefs against a team of ex-coaches and players from college basketball. The first 30 minutes will be a nine-hole best ball golf event, while the second half of the show will feature a cooking competition. A $100,000 prize will go to the winner’s charity.

Turner is handling production (the event will be taped March 20-21 at Grayhawk Golf Club), while CBS will air the premiere on April 2.

Among the ex-players expected to participate are Grant Hill and Chris Webber.
