Snow and Petersen join NBA’s TMBO team

The NBA has added two executives to fully staff its 40-member team marketing and business operations division.
Brandon Snow has been named senior vice president of TMBO and Chris Petersen has been hired as a TMBO vice president.

Snow, who begins his job in January, will oversee TMBO’s team sponsorship development group and will be an account manager assigned to several NBA teams.

Snow is no stranger to the NBA. He was hired by the league in 2006 as senior director of global marketing partnerships and has since held a number of other titles before moving to NBA China, where he had been senior vice president of global partnerships since February 2015. Before the NBA, he worked in senior-level marketing positions for DDB Worldwide.

Petersen, who began his job this fall, comes to the NBA after working for six years for the Boston Consulting Group. Before that, he was an executive director at Fireworks Enterprises, a marketing consultancy in Los Angeles.

Both executives report to Amy Brooks, executive vice president of the NBA’s TMBO division. The hires are new positions and round out the TMBO staff, which in the last year has seen some executives leave for NBA team jobs. They include Jordan Solomon and John Abbamondi, who left to work at MSG Sports and MSG, respectively, and Jennifer van Dijk, who left the NBA for a job with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Losing executives to NBA teams is a familiar theme for Brooks.

“Opportunities inevitably come up, and that is OK,” Brooks said. “Most of those are with our teams. Why we exist is that our teams see the value in what we do. We are partners with them in trying to drive their interests.”
