Jumping aboard

A list of Missy Franklin’s marketing deals heading into Rio:

Speedo — Franklin is a member of Team Speedo after signing her first professional contract with the swimsuit brand in mid-2015. In addition to participating in the brand’s December launch of its 2016 competition gear, she will appear in advertisements for Speedo Fit, a line of suits for general fitness enthusiasts using the pool. After Rio, she will collaborate on a new line of swimwear and a “to-and-from-the-pool” clothing set for release in late 2016 or 2017.

Visa — Franklin is one of about 40 global members of Team Visa, who will be the face of a global marketing campaign showing off the company’s digital payment innovations this summer. Traditionally, Visa pays all athletes the same rate, which sources say is about $20,000 including performance incentives.

Minute Maid — Franklin and her parents, D.A. and Dick, will be featured prominently in the Coca-Cola brand’s “Doin’ Good” marketing campaign designed to remind parents of all they do to make a difference in their kids’ lives. It’s set to launch in early May.

GoPro — GoPro has followed Franklin to training sessions in Hawaii, California and Colorado, and will produce a series of web videos leading up to Rio, with detailed insights into her training regimen and personality. The trailer is already online; the next two episodes will be published before the Games start. The relationship is not limited to Rio. GoPro and Franklin expect to collaborate on more videos in the future.

u Wheaties — Franklin is part of Team Wheaties, though the brand has not committed to putting her on the Wheaties box. Traditionally, that decision is made based on Olympic performance.

Topps — Franklin will be on the cover of an Olympic-themed package of Topps trading cards due out in May.

United Airlines — Franklin will appear in the USOC airline sponsor’s onboard safety video beginning Sunday, along with several other Olympians. She grew up near the airline’s Denver hub.

Penguin Random House — Franklin and her parents are co-authoring a book, “Relentless Spirit: The Unconventional Raising of a Champion,” about their decisions as a family as her swimming career developed. It’s set to be in stores Dec. 6.
