Barnum, a veteran sports architect, is immersed in the $270 million renovation of Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It’s a landmark project for DLR Group and a tricky one as well, given the design restrictions tied to the stadium’s historic landmark status. The project will bring premium seating to the 93-year-old building, new inventory that will help USC, which runs the stadium, pay for the privately funded renovation. Separately, DLR Group is working on upgrades to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette’s ballpark and a new training facility for the University of Wyoming’s football team. Elsewhere, it has done extensive work for the University of Houston, including the design of the school’s new $25 million basketball practice venue.
