MLS’s Stevenson: ‘This is going to be very instructive’ for all

Gary Stevenson, MLS Business Ventures president and managing director, sees Twitter’s NFL deal as one that the soccer league should pursue.

Speaking of the NFL’s $10 million deal to stream “Thursday Night Football” on Twitter, Stevenson said, “This is going to be very instructive to all of us as to exactly how fast OTT delivery systems will take hold.”

Stevenson said the league needs to be open-minded when it comes to how it makes its games available.

“We have to listen to the consumer on where they want games, what they want to watch and how they want to consume,” he said. “We have an eight-year partnership with our media partners, and we are all open to looking at things like Twitter to push our message.”
