Roger Penske's inner circle, past and present

Former employees

Jay Signore
Signore met Penske in 1974 while working on his powerboat racing entry. He later headed the IROC series that Penske organized, and served as president of Team Penske.



Dan Luginbuhl
Originally hired to work on promotions for Penske sponsor Sunoco, Luginbuhl joined the team in 1969 and wore multiple hats before retiring as vice president of communications in 2002.

Don Miller
The St. Louis native connected Penske with hot young driver Rusty Wallace, then co-owned and managed Penske’s NASCAR team with Wallace as the driver.

Mark Donohue
With a mechanical engineering degree from Brown, Penske’s first driver also was the team’s first president. The 1972 Indianapolis 500 winner died after crashing during a Formula One practice session in 1975.

Norman Ahn
A mechanic on Penske’s sports car series entries with driver Mark Donohue in the 1960s, Ahn later served as vice president of Penske Corp.

Charged with running the marketing side of Team Penske, Gibson focuses on areas such as sponsorship retention, business development and business-to-business connections.


Mike Nelson
VP of operations, Team Penske

Few people are as in tune with the “Penske Way” of unyielding cleanliness and orderliness as Nelson, whether it’s ensuring the team’s haulers are perfectly polished or the team’s shop is spotless.


Tim Cindric
President, Team Penske

Cindric has led the organization’s racing efforts since being hired as president in 1999. He also contributes to the business side of Penske Corp. by sitting in on board meetings.


Walt Czarnecki
Vice chairman, Team Penske; EVP, Penske Corp.

Having been at Roger Penske’s side for scores of major business decisions over the course of 45 years, perhaps no person more truly fits the mold of being Penske’s right-hand man than Czarnecki.


Bud Denker
Senior VP, Penske Corp.; EVP, Team Penske

In addition to his top-level marketing duties with Penske Corp., Denker oversees the Verizon IndyCar Series Detroit Grand Prix event that Roger Penske helped bring back to the city’s Belle Isle in 2007.
